Conclusion
- The purpose of this lab was to create our own procedure and analyze the effect the change in speed due to gravity has on a falling object. Also the purpose is to find the distance we dropped the cork over by using kinematic equations.
Procedure
- We found three different locations to drop our cork off of. We started with the balcony on the inside of the Franco Center. Then the cork was dropped off the second story railing in the lower school. The last spot was the second story inside the gym. All of the trials were dropped with the the cork lined up with the top of the railing

Error Analysis
- Error Analysis is a very important and common mistake that is made in high school laboratory exercises. In this specific case small amounts of error could have come from things we cannot control in the environment we tested in. Such as wind and the direction the stopper was facing when it fell.
Conclusion
- As a conclusion, knowing the acceleration on earth (gravity) is a very useful tool when trying to find distance, for example, in this case. Understanding how to calculate the distance is also an important tool in physics, which was done in this laboratory assessment. It is fun to drop items from heights, but to understand the physics behind the fall, is interesting, as well as important to comprehend.
